When we see a Walt Disney movie advertised, we think of wholesome family entertainment; a Mercedes Benz represents wealth and luxury; Motel 6 a place for the budget conscious to spend the night. Each of these brands has created a promise, an experience you can count on. What kind of image does your personal brand conjure? What will an employer get if he hires you?

A personal brand is the public image we want to create. It is how we market ourselves to others, particularly in a job search. Creating your brand should not be a last minute effort before an important interview. It requires reflection and research and should be based on your values, personal traits and marketable skills. Here are a few things to think about as you begin to establish your brand.
